Up in the hills above Florence lies Fiesole, the ancient Etruscan capital of the region since the VIIth century b.C. and a blooming city during under the Roman Empire. From these hills Leonardo da Vinci made his first experiments with human flight. In modern times Fiesole became an important cultural center visited, amongst others, by Newton, Proust and Queen Victoria.

These are the most important stops during our tour:

  • The Archeological park with the Roman theater that seated 3,000 people, the baths and the Roman-Etruscan temples.
  • The Archeological Museum.
  • The Piazza Mino with the Palazzo Petrorio, the old Church of Santa Marina Primerana, the Palazzo Vescovile, the Seminary and the Romanesque Cathedral of San Romolo founded in 1028.
  • The Roman-Etruscan Acropolis, where we can now visit the XIVth century church, cloister and Monastery of San Francesco. From this point you will enjoy a magnificent view of Florence.
