We’ll visit Florence’s ‘rive gauche’, the old but lively district on the other side of Arno with its characteristic restaurants, bars, artisan workshops and antique dealers. As we walk through its streets and squares we’ll visit two of its most famous churches: Santo Spirito and Carmine.

These are the most important highlights of our tour:
- Piazza Santa Trinita: the little triangular square has monuments on all sides in different styles and from different eras. Noteworthy is the Church of Santa Trinita that dates back to the XIth century famous for the Sassetti Chapel decorated with frescoes by Domenico Ghirlandaio.
- The Santa Trinita Bridge, the most elegant bridge of Florence.
- Via Maggio, when the Medici Grand dukes moved to Palazzo Pitti, this became the fashionable residential street of the Florentine nobility.
- Piazza Santo Spirito square and a visit to the Church of Santo Spirito, last legacy of Brunelleschi: 38 chapels which belonged to the wealthy families of its parish. In the Sacristy a wooden crucifix by the young Michelangelo.
- Piazza del Carmine and a visit to the baroque church of where one still can admire the frescoes of the Cappella Brancacci, one of Masaccio’s masterpieces known as “the school of the world” for its importance in the history of art.
